Latest News

Boomer, Callie and I were up in Stony Plain this past weekend (April 14/15). Boomer had an awesome day on Saturday, taking 4 Q's out of 5 runs!

Also, Boomer has another new title: TRIPLE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE DOG

Excited about that!

Callie finally has some NADAC agility points! She has points in Novice Jumpers ! Yahoo

This was emailed to me!

Subject: THE KISS  This photograph shows a red Doberman licking an exhausted fireman.  He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire. She is pregnant.  The firefighter was afraid of her at first, because he had never been around a Doberman before. When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest. A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, "The Observer," noticed this red Doberman in the distance looking at the fireman. He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do. As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, when the Photographer snapped this photograph.

Pet Peeves !

Air your Pet Peeves here! Send in your peeves, we'll write it up so everyone can see that we probably all have the same peeves!

Okay, People who let their dogs run around and don't pick up after them. Lately behind my house (in the greenspace) there's been an awful lot of dog doo-doo lying around.

It's always best if we are concious of keeping this a dog-friend environment. We need to keep the non-dog people happy by cleaning up after our pets !

Off-Leash Parks or Pathway systems: People need to realize that even though it is 'offleash' there ARE signs posted stated that your dog "must be in control at all times". It seems lately in the local Airdrie paper, that lots of people are complaining about a couple of 'dog walkers' who walk a multitude of dogs offleash on the pathway system. Unfortunately, they do NOT control their dogs and let them run up to other dogs, scaring the other dogs, as would be normal when a 'pack' of large dogs comes running at you. This is an unfortunate case, as from what I have read, the dog walkers are telling the others that their dogs need to be socialized anyway. Well....socializing is something that should be done at the discretion of the owner of the dog, not by it being decided by others...'oh, let's get that dog used to a pack...'. That there is the main issue. YES...all dogs MUST be socialized, but there are times and places for that type of 'proofing' to be done, and it is not necessarily anytime the dog is outside. So...that's my opinion...what's yours??

little stories

 A  WONDERFUL DOG STORY

From time to time, people tell me,  "lighten up, it's just a dog," or,
"that's a lot of money for just a dog."  They don't understand the
distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs  involved for "just a
dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about  with "just a dog." Many
hours have passed and my only company was "just a  dog," but I did not
once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have  been brought about by
"just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the  gentle touch of "just a
dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the  day. If you, too, think
it's "just a dog," then you will  probably understand phases like "just a
friend," "just a sunrise," or  "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into
my life the very essence of  friendship, trust, and
pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the  compassion and patience
that make me a better person. Because of "just a  dog" I will rise early,
take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of
all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and
the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and
diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not  "just a dog" but
the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being  "just a man." So
the next time you hear the  phrase "just a dog." just smile, because they
 "just don't understand."
